Catherine, August 2023

As we approach another ski season, here’s a round-up of some of the most exciting new developments across the Alps for Winter 2023/24.

Spotlight on Tignes

We’ve always been huge fans of this amazing resort thanks to its high altitude location, easy access to the world class Tignes-Val d’Isère ski area and lively atmosphere. Considered by some to be the poor relation of Val d’Isère, recent developments mean that this friendly destination is giving its glitzier neighbour a run for its money in the luxury stakes.

Matterhorn Alpine Crossing

Travel from Zermatt to Italy as a non-skier

We’ve always been huge fans of the linked Zermatt – Cervinia ski area: extensive and challenging skiing, excellent hospitality, plenty of charm, and unrivalled views of the Matterhorn. It’s been possible to ski from Switzerland to Italy for a while now but thanks to the construction of a new cable car linking the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise in Switzerland to the Testa Grigia in Italy, this is now an option for non-skiers too. Opened in July 2023, this will be the first winter that the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing is in operation. So if you’re travelling with a non-skier this winter, why not meet up for an Italian lunch?
